Good Food in Albuquerque, New Mexico

This list of recommended restaurants is based on my wife’s and my personnel taste.  I’m not going to bad mouth eateries.  If we don’t like them we won’t list them.

AMERICAN

  • ABQ Brew Pub for a really good green chile cheeseburger.  All the ingredients in this burger is top quality.  Cost was 12 dollars and was worth it.  Location: 6601 Uptown Blvd.  Dress is casual.
  • BEST RIBEYE STEAK FOR THE MONEY at "Fuddruckers Worlds Greatest Hamburgers".  3 location to chose from one by the airport on Yale, one on the west side of the I-25 south of Jefferson and one in the winrock mall on the east side.  The best steak in town for the price.  The 16 oz. boneless ribeye is the choice, but it is not on the menu.  You have to just tell the order taker that you want the 16 oz. ribeye.  This steak comes with two sides, I usual get the salad and fries, toast comes with the steak.  The meat is tender and flavorful.  They serve beer, wine and the usual non-alcoholic beverages.  Dress is casual.  The price is under 20 dollars the steak is worth more.

  • Mimi’s Cafe is a chain restaurant the serves good food.  Located at 4316 The 25 Way NE (next to I-25 north of Jefferson).  The turkey is great if that’s what your looking for.  CHicken pot pies are also a treat.

  • Monte Carlo Steakhouse for reasonable Prime Rib, Pork shish kabob, and New York Steaks.  Location: 3916 Central Ave. SW (just west of the Rio Grande River).  A liquor store is in the front with the restaurant in the back.  The entrance is on the side.  You get a salad and a choice of starch.  This restaurant made a national TV show and the place is packed now.  Dress is casual.
  • O’Niell’s is a great place for comfort food. The O’niell’s burger is good and the patty melt is great my wife tells me.  Dress is casual.  Location:  4310 Central SE, west of San Mateo on the south side of the street.
  • Rancher’s Club in the Hilton Hotel is great for “fine dining”.  Dress is better than casual.  Location: 1901 University Blvd NE next to I-40 close to I-25 on the north side of I-40 and east of I-25.

  • The Whole Hog Café for BBQ.  The ribs are great and the brisket very good and tender.  This restaurant is based in Arkansas.  Whole Hog is also in Santa Fe.  Dress is casual.  Location: 9880 Montgomery NE, east of Eubank.

Chinese

  • East Ocean for Hong Kong style Chinese food.  Good tasting authentic Chinese food.  The Duck was great.  Location: 3601 Carlisle Blvd NE, south of Comanche on the west side of the street.
